Tips For Installing and Uninstalling Apps on the Apple Watch

Are you the owner of a lovely new Apple Watch? Well lucky for you, installing and uninstalling apps is incredibly simple and intuitive. Apple has done a wonderful job in integrating the iPhone and Apple Watch experience. Just think of the Apple Watch as the ultimate iPhone assistant, always ready to help out any supported app. When you install an app on your iPhone that has Apple Watch support, the Apple Watch version is automatically installed on both the phone and Apple Watch. Luckily these Apple Watch apps are very lightweight and don’t take up much additional memory. No manual steps are necessary to install Apple Watch apps beyond installing them on your iPhone and the initial Apple Watch setup.

As with the iPhone, there are a number of default apps that ship with the Apple Watch that cannot be removed. Should you wish to remove one of the Apple Watch apps from the watch itself, it is a simple matter of holding down on the icon of the app you wish to delete. The apps will move around indicating they can be edited and all you need to do to delete one is tap the small red X in the corner as you would on the iPhone. The much smaller display makes this a tad more difficult but it is easy all the same. When an app is deleted from the Apple Watch it is automatically toggled off on your iPhone.

You can also directly delete an Apple Watch app from your iPhone by going to the Apple Watch iPhone app, tap on the app you wish to delete, and toggle “Show App on Apple Watch” to off. The app will disappear from your Apple Watch. If you ever decide you can’t live without that app on your Apple Watch, simply open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone again, scroll to the app and toggle “Show App on Apple Watch” to on. The app will appear back on your Apple Watch as if it were there all along! Isn’t that convenient?

Release Soon Jailbreak for Taig, Pangu, iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4? Iphone 6 Plus

Some interesting news has been surfacing recently regarding a possible and long-awaited jailbreak for Apple devices running iOS 8.3 and the new iOS 8.4 beta. Though a few methods of jailbreaking firmwares such as iOS 8.13 and iOS 8.2 have been discovered, they were quickly patched by Apple, rendering them useless. The recent release of the Apple Watch has attracted the attention of notable hackers who may be close to revealing jailbreaks for the latest iOS revisions. The Apple Watch requires at least iOS 8.2 which would mean giving up a working jailbreak on any lower firmware.

The other notable event is the very recent release of the iOS 8.4 developer beta which means an official iOS 8.4 is incoming soon. By analyzing this latest iOS, it is likely that hackers will be able to devise jailbreak methods that can be applied to the upcoming iOS 8.4 and recent lower firmwares. This is great news for anyone who has upgraded beyond firmwares with a working jailbreak and is still patiently waiting for one on the latest revisions. Luckily the combination of interest in the Apple Watch and the recent iOS updates makes this a very likely possibility.

For now though, you’ll have to settle for the choice between either a lower jailbroken firmware or a recent one with no jailbreak. It can be a tough decision to enjoy Cydia apps and more customization on your iOS device or the ability to use a shiny new Apple Watch with your iPhone. At least one hacker, ion1c, has posted a YouTube video showing a full jailbreak on iOS 8.4 beta 1.

So don’t despair, have patience and in due time a jailbreak for iOS 8.3 and beyond will arrive.

Seene Brings 3D Photos To iOS & Android

Ever been jealous of the 3D photos that some smartphones are capable of? Seene aims to remedy that envy for iOS users by bringing full 3D photography without the need for dual cameras or any special equipment. All you need is a device running iOS 7.0 or later with a camera, and you’re all set to begin taking and sharing 3D photos.

To take a photo, you choose a subject and take an initial calibration photo. Seene needs a certain number of reliable points on the subject for comparison, with good ones showing up in green. If there aren’t enough, you won’t be able to take a 3D photo and will need to adjust your lighting or subject. Seene will then ask you to slowly move the camera around the subject to gather data to generate the final 3D photo. There are four indicators that appear on screen that turn green when you’ve obtained enough data in that direction. The process is somewhat tricky and may take a few attempts before it produces an acceptable 3D image. It also has problems with transparent objects and on occasion a weird blending between background and foreground happens. Once it works however, the results are pretty amazing and the photo shifts in 3D with each movement of the device’s gyroscope in your hand.

Once you’re satisfied with a photo and would like to share it, you can save it on the device or view it on Seene’s website through your account or make it viewable by anyone. Your 3D photos can also be embedded in certain sites and expanded support is very likely. You can also like, share, and favorite photos from other users which brings a social network element to the app.

Seene is a fun new take on photos for anyone interested in 3D. It’s available free on iTunes with an Android version in the works. Good luck getting your cat to stay still though.

iBrowse – Full File Management Across All iOS Devices

Owners of multiple iOS devices know the pain of attempting to sync content across all of them, especially when using iTunes. Fortunately, there are a number of third-party solutions that make the task easier. With iBrowse, you can drag and drop files between device backups instead of having to restore data to an actual device. Provided that you have backups of each iOS device, this can save enormous amounts of time by eliminating the need to plug and unplug devices, make full backups, and then sync or choose specific media to transfer between devices.

Of course you can also directly connect a device such as an iPhone or iPad to your computer and manage files with iBrowse, though you do still need to have iTunes 10 or later installed for driver support. The files are grouped into three categories including Apps, Media, and Backup Data. Under apps, you have access to every app stored on the device as well as all app data. It’s a very useful way to transfer game saves or other data that has been built up over time to other devices. Unfortunately, Media is restricted to photos and videos and you will still need to use iTunes in order to properly move music files. You can view all backup data in the Backup section and transfer anything there to another device though the backup itself cannot be modified.

File management is very fast and easy with iBrowse, you can manually choose to transfer files from your computer to the iOS device, from iOS device to the computer, or between iOS devices. Drag-and-drop makes the process fairly straightforward. Browsing files is also very simple and thumbnails of each app, media file, and other data are shown along with some basic file information in a side panel.

iBrowse is a free download with Mac and PC versions available. There are no ads and iBrowse works with all devices and all versions of iOS. It’s a great choice for convenient, efficient iOS file management.
