HyperSwitch: A Windows-Esque Preview Based App Switcher for Macs

Only a few years ago the general consensus in the world of technology was that Windows ran the world and Mac users were simply an odd niche. These days Mac products and computers have taken the world of computing by storm and the market for users who are going from Windows to Mac is huge. Even though this debate has been going on for a long time the fact of the matter is that a lot of people are switching over to Mac and it may not be the most natural OS for a life long Windows user to adjust to. One of the areas of computing that many Windows users of the modern age have grown accustomed to is the idea of switching between opened apps and windows. In the Windows OS you can pop up a little dock of opened, and available programs to access quickly, but with Mac the default dock may throw some new users off from the lack of a preview function. Well, there’s now a way to get the best of both worlds.

There is a new app which is still in beta which allows Mac users the option to have a Windows OS style preview based dock to switch between apps and open windows. It is called HyperSwitch. Although it is still in beta it works quite well with only a few known errors and is free. If you’re a Windows user who is missing your preview based switching then grab up this app and never look back.

The best feature of this app is the customization. The mac default dock is good, but leaves a few customization issues open for critique. This HyperSwitch can be adjusted in virtually any way possible to fit your screen, be hidden, size differently when hovering and even even perform actions to open apps simply over the dock icons.

For a new, beta app, this is quite a solid first run and it will only get better. If you’re only into apps that are completely finished and flawless then you might want to keep searching, but as far as function and performance goes this beta is pretty close to being able to accomplish everything it sets out to do.

The function of smart phones these days has reached an entirely new level. These devices are far from simply devices with which to send emails and make phone calls. They have become mobile computers, portable gadgets of every kind and serve functions that we used to have specific machines for. There is now an app that works as a completely accurate speedometer. Gravity Guy 2: The Fun New Sequel to a Classic on Windows Phone 8

Gravity Guy became an instant classic game for Windows mobile platforms when it came out about a year ago. Ever since then the fan base has been patiently awaiting the sequel. Well, the day has finally come and the Gravity Guy 2 is now available in the Windows App store. As the gaming world for mobile devices goes, usually Windows Phone is the last to get name brand titles. This is a turn of those standards since Gravity Guy 2 is being released first for Windows Phone, with the iOS and Android versions to be released at a later date. This once again goes to show how the world of Windows Phone is gaining traction in recent times with the growing coverage of large name apps and releases.

As far as Gravity Guy 2 is concerned it is a great sequel. Anyone that loved the first installment will find this one great too, but anyone that has never heard of the franchise before will still get the enjoyment of playing this fun little running game. It’s not just a remake with more levels and sharper graphics. There are added moves, new features and all of that is of course coupled with new and improved graphics and music as well. When a game this popular is released from a company as big as MiniClip you know there is a decent amount of reliability behind it. Getting this game won’t be a regret unless you have a lot to accomplish in which case this game will surely sidetrack you for hours.

Splashtop Remote Desktop: Take Your Computer With You Anywhere

Splashtop is a truly revolutionary way to experience your computer without being in front of it. This takes remote desktop apps to a whole new level of performance and execution. I have been caught up on the idea of remote desktop apps being laggy, unresponsive and largely a waste of time and money up until I used Splashtop. I use a Mac and a PC in my regular, everyday life. Carrying both of those with me around while I’m on the go is incredibly unrealistic and would not only consume massive amounts of space, but it’s just very impractical. With Splashtop I can basically have every benefit of carrying my computers with me in the palm of my hand.

Splashtop is offered as a paid app for Android devices in the cheaper version and and HD version. The HD is for people who really want to have the screen and the resolution of their computer with them on the go. All you need to do is install the app on your Android device and then install the software on your computer which is very simple to do. Once this is set up you can have access to your desktop and all of your computer’s functions right from your Android device.

This is one of the most beneficial apps I have ever used in my personal and professional life to keep myself uninhibited by weight and space of computers while keeping all of my technology with me and ready to go. There is no better feeling than having the power of a computer in the access of your phone. It really has changed the way I am able to stay mobile and get work done while monitoring the things only a computer can do.

EveryCircuit: A Great Educational App on Electric Circuits

This is a pretty impressive app for anyone to use. If you are a student or a professional that deals with electronics this app will be useful in more ways than you could imagine. EveryCircuit is the name of the app and it appropriately is able to simulate every single circuit configuration you could think of. Learning about circuitry and all of the laws, rules, and forms from a book or a worksheet will never be the same with this app helping you along as well. If you are involved in a college course, a high school class or just an avid fan of this kind of technology you seriously need to have this app.

I knew almost nothing about circuitry when I took my first electrical engineering class in college. I still remember the nightmares about learning and memorizing all of the Ohm, and Kirchhoff laws. If I had this app back then it would have made so much more sense and been so much easier to figure out.

This app isn’t just a diagram app with pretty pictures and neat graphics. It has a huge repertoire of educational information woven into it with animations, capacitor changing options, numerous simulations, and endless components to build off of. The free version has most of the features the paid version does, but the only difference is that the area in which to build and run circuits is smaller. For those people who need larger test areas and more expansive networks available for their simulations then the paid version would be your best bet.

The reviews on the helpfulness and accuracy of this app are not exaggerated. It is a pretty niche app and not a game or a app for people to just play around on, but for those of you who have circuitry in your lives it will be a priceless addition.
