Cloud Print for Android, the Official Printing App From Google

Google has finally released an official cloud printing app, unsurprisingly named Cloud Print for Android devices. The app allows for a printer to be registered to the cloud through Google’s services. Once a printer is registered, you can print from almost any imaginable device but now it’s easier than ever with the Android version. Why Google took so long to release their official version of the app for their own mobile OS is a mystery when there are so many cloud printing apps on the market already.

The app has settings for print jobs that can be sent over the cloud to the printer for customizing features like color and resolution. If your printer doesn’t have native support for cloud print, you can download the desktop version from Google and use your PC or Mac to communicate with the printer.

Once everything is set up, Cloud Print does the rest. You can print from anywhere you have a data or internet connection from your Android device. Almost anything that is shareable on your Android device can be printed. Want to send a quick physical copy of a document sitting on your phone to someone at the office? Within a few seconds, they can have that document in hand with the power of Cloud Print!

Cloud Print is available free on Google Play. If you’ve ever had trouble printing from your Android device, give Cloud Print a try. It’s not only free, it does a fantastic job.

Internet Speed Meter for Android Smartphones

As the name implies, Internet Speed Meter (and the Lite version) for Android shows your current data connection speed in real time. There is a status bar icon that shows your Android device’s current internet speed as well as notifications which can collect data throughout the day and give you a full update on your internet usage. The app can detect if you’re using a data connection or on WiFi and give separate status reports for each. The app is very small and light, giving you just the bare minimum of information. It acts as a small boost to the stock Android features and you may forget it’s even a separate app.

The Lite version comes with some limitations as you would expect. After a limit of 100MB of data usage or half of your daily average data use, the meter icon becomes disabled and you will need to wait for it to be activated again. You cannot reset the status reports for the day either.

Internet Speed Meter is available for $1.50 on Google Play and the Lite version is free. If you find yourself constantly checking your data speed or worrying about data limits, Internet Speed Meter might make life a bit easier.

Taskbar – Windows 8 Style for Android

For fans of the Windows Start button and menu, a new app for Android devices from Root Uninstaller has you covered. The aptly named Taskbar – Windows 8 Style, brings a very Windows like overlay to the standard Android interface. The app creates a permanent start button on the bottom right of the screen. When tapped, it displays the start menu and a highly customizable set of views of specific apps and device setting menus. If you’ve ever used the start button and menu on a Windows PC, you’ll be comfortable with the experience immediately.

You can customize the menu to suit your needs and pick specific apps to appear in the start menu for easy access. This is especially helpful if you have hundreds of apps sitting on your device and they aren’t particularly well organized. Many devices also provide their own skins beyond the standard Android interface to adjust settings. Taskbar – Windows 8 Style brings a consistent ability to change device settings to the standard interface. Adding apps to the menu is as easy as opening the start menu, selecting the app to add, and dragging it to the spot on the menu where it should go.

There is also a taskbar overlay, again very much like the one on a Windows PC for accessing frequently used apps at a single tap. The taskbar can be customized with whatever apps or settings you desire and is great for quickly opening up the most commonly used apps.

Taskbar – Windows 8 Style is available free on Google Play today. If you’ve been wanting more of a Windows experience on your Android device, try it out.
