Google Voice Issues to be Resolved for New Hangouts App

Google unveiled their newest app to the world of Android a few days ago with Hangouts. This app is supposed to take over all of their multitude of messaging apps that they currently have and replace them with this unified and well balanced messaging and communication hub. There was a major problem right off the bat though. Google Voice was not immediately functional from the new Hangouts app, so people who had switched over to Hangouts, but needed to still use Google Voice were left scrambling to reset back to the old app to still use that service.

No introduction of a new product goes over without any speed bumps, especially one from such a wide audience as Google customers, but the Google Voice slip up was a pretty large one and warranted a mention from Google’s higher ups that inbound and outbound calls will be supported with Google Voice in the Hangouts app very soon. How soon is very soon? They didn’t set a date in stone, but for those who heavily rely on Google Voice the service is still up and running, just independent of the Hangouts app.

As of now, Hangouts is basically the same thing as Google Talk which many of us Gmail and Google+ users have on their phones already. It has nothing amazing about it that Talk didn’t necessarily cover, and the real issue of total integration will only be resolved once Google figures out the Voice inclusion with the Hangouts app. Until then, I’ll stick with trusty old Google Talk and when the Hangouts is completely ready to hit the ground running I’ll give it another go.

Hungry Now: A Fast Food Finding app for the Windows Phone

We’re still on a bit of a Windows Phone kick here at TechnoBB, so here’s another little gem of an app that’s new and exclusive to Windows Phone. It’s called Hungry Now. The app essentially comes into play when you get that feeling of sudden, and intense hunger that accompanies those awkward stomach gurgling noises and other embarrassing, uncontrollable things. Hungry Now is great at what it does. Sure, you can always do an internet search for what kinds of places are around you to eat, but it’s not as concentrated or fast as the results from Hungry Now are. With this app all of the relevant fast food restaurants in your vicinity are tapped into and displayed on a mapped out area. This shows you what is close, what kinds of restaurants and exactly how far they are.

The best part of this app is the simple yet customizable user interface. With most apps of this simplicity there is no customization and what you see is kind of what you get. With Hungry Now you can go in and select which restaurants you want shown in your search results and which ones you don’t. This means if you’re simply a burger man and you’re in an area where Mexican food is king, that lone burger place will pop up to be your savior.

This app is great for people who are on the road a lot or just new to a general area, or even people who just want to see exactly what is around in the city they live in. It really is quite useful for being as simple as it is. Once you get this app you’ll never go hungry again, as long as places are open that is.

The last thing worth mentioning is that the app is free. Also, it is worldwide. This means the app will come to your aid no matter where in the world you are that has fast food. A great app for travelers or students, Hungry Now will get you to fast food, fast.

Rumor Mill: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is NOT Going to have a Flexible Display

There are always rumors circulating about Samsung’s devices since they sell so well, and the marketing isn’t as blatant and stagnant as Apple’s marketing. This leaves wide open doors for rumors and leaks to trickle out from numerous sources and suppliers. The latest one is concerning the rumors that the Galaxy Note 3, the company’s latest phone release, was going to have a flexible display. The latest news from the rumor mill is that that rumor is now proven false. Clearly these rumors have to be taken as they are, rumors, until there are official releases from the company themselves.

The idea behind the flexible display was innovation in a way that no other company had done before. That combined with the idea that the larger scale of the Note series would make it possible to slim down the horizontal measurements of the device. Alas, apparently the displays were not easy enough to manufacture and acquire in the amounts necessary to keep up with demand so Samsung did what any other money run company would do and decided on the cheaper, easier to mass produce product. Thanks Samsung.
