CBS has always been one of the major networks that tried and succeeded in staying at the top of their game. They are showing this again in their introduction of this new app for iOS devices. Compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, this app will be a service to stream full episodes directly to your device. Now your favorite CBS network shows will be available in the palm of your hand.
This idea in and of itself is nothing new. There have been numerous streaming services for television and movies, but the availability has always been limited or costly. The difference with this service is that it is free and so are the episodes. There’s no purchasing whichever one you want or having to select episodes to buy. It’s a free app and the episodes will be there when you want to watch them for free.
It is the first of its kind in terms of an actual network providing a mobile streaming service for its consumers. Although it is only out there for iOS users right now, they have said that they plan to have a full release of all mobile platforms including Windows 8 in a little while. This will probably set a pretty serious precedent for all of the other networks to make an app for platforms to stream their content. This will make all of the content which has previously only been widely accessible on computers and larger platforms available to tablets and smartphones. It is definitely a good move on their part to get their content out there to a much wider audience.
